The forbidden-words list comes with several categorized words--from sexually explicit terms to drugs and gambling--and you'll be able to add your own words. Signage appears when sites containing these words are happened upon. KidShieldUSA works with Internet Explorer but offers blocking for other browsers with strict access only given to "super users," i.e., you. The program can be deactivated using a hot key and gives network settings that can mimic what you've set up on the main PC. We like the logs of sites visited that can be e-mailed to you. Unfortunately, KidShieldUSA doesn't operate in stealth mode, so everyone will know you're watching. A decent deterrent for uncouth surf habits, this 15-day trial is a great surveillance tool for parents.
