Publisher's description

System Mechanic breathes new life into old PCs and keeps new ones running as they should. System clutter, performance drains, insufficient security, and corrupted settings can all degrade a PC's operation. Instead of buying dozens of individual products, use System Mechanic to remedy all these issues and more. Over 30 tools work together to diagnose PC health, optimize settings, repair problems, clean out clutter, and protect against Web threats. Version 7.1.10 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Editor's review of System Mechanic

As with any machine, your PC needs regular tune-ups to maintain peak performance. This virtual toolbox can enhance the speed, safety, and power of your computer with a wide range of functions and an extensive help system.

System Mechanic performs cleanup, optimization, and privacy protection with equal agility. As with similar tune-up utilities, it enables you to clean up your registry, remove junk files, and customize hidden settings to improve performance. The app has additional tools for removing spyware and for defragmenting your hard drive, eliminating the need for multiple utility programs. There is an undo function that restores your system to its previous state, but its hidden in the SafetyNet tab and doesnt allow you to bring back one item at a time. The program also lacks a system profiler. In addition, some users may prefer a more generic Windows-style interface with top-level access to all functions.

The bottom line, however, is that System Mechanic is one of the most complete, effective, and easy-to-use tune-up utilities we've seen to date.
