Newsgroup Commander extracts information from newsgroups using multiple include/exclude keyword filters based on article contents and subjects. You can use your selected keywords to scan the target audience and only return the information you are interested in.

This newsgroup reader is well-designed and easy to use, but testing revealed some problems that keep us from recommending it.

Newsgroup Commander downloads and installs quickly. Its interface is nicely designed, but uncluttered and easy to comprehend for novice newsreader users. Buttons are large and labeled with simple commands, so the lack of a help feature isn't really a drawback. While many newsreaders require users to supply only a news server name at setup, Newsgroup Commander requires both a news server name and an NNTP Host name, an additional step that may prove a stumbling block for some novice users. Despite its visual appeal and ease of use, the program hung up and ceased responding during every one of our tests, even after multiple reinstalls and launches.

Although Newsgroup Commander is free and looks good, its failure to perform after downloading the list of available newsgroups makes us unable to recommend it.
