Publisher's description
StopGame is an ideal computer program designed to help parents control the time their children spend playing computer games. Control is made possible by a set of intervals delimiting when a listed game may or may not be played. A time limit for play for each day or even for an entire week can also be set. StopGame will terminate any program from the games list that will attempt to break the rules you set yourself.
Version 1.4.1 fixes minor files and updates help file.
Editor's review of StopGame Home Edition
This utility allows parents to rein in young video game addicts, but is narrower in scope than similar parental-control tools.
StopGame Home Edition's straightforward interface is easy to operate and lets you easily define daily time restrictions and intervals for each user. Just create a password-protected parental account and accounts for kids, and that's it. The program keeps a log file of user activities and weekly consumption for parents to easily access through the interface.
Unlike similar applications, this one didn't automatically scan our PC for installed games during our tests. We had to manually define games and any other programs for which we wanted to set accessibility restrictions. While this 15-day trial requires a password to access parental settings, it didn't require a password during uninstallation, so a savvy user who's tired of limited gaming would have easy access to removing it. Features for restricting Web activities would have been beneficial, since many games don't have to be downloaded. Parents of young kids might appreciate this title, but others will want a more stringent solution.
