The software is highly customizable: it can create lessons on the fly based on the student's performance, offer predefined lessons, provide extra exercises if needed. This freeware application is great for testing elementary-level math skills. Skinnable and easy-to-operate, RekenTest offers a wizard to walk you through creating sessions. It lets you choose the numeric range, challenge level, test duration, number of players, and number of questions for advancement.

The program tackles math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We like that it offers brief and technical analysis at the end of each session, including the number of correct and incorrect answers and average time for answering questions. Our only concern, however, is the inadequate help file that fails to elaborate on the Text Editor and Level Builder features. Nonetheless, RekenTest is highly customizable and performed well during our testing.

All in all, grade-school students needing to improve their arithmetic skills will find this freeware beneficial.
