Publisher's description

Pulse Master slows down music without affecting pitch, so musicians can more easily understand words, transcribe songs, or transpose a musical key. Independent control of music speed and pitch is done in real time by playing music from a CD or a MP3, WAV, WMA, or Ogg Vorbis file. Pulse Master also can be used as a flexible dictation machine, a choreographer's or dancer's music-speed-adjusting tool, a music teacher's tool, a singer's tool for changing the key to match a vocal range, or a tool for understanding words in foreign languages.

Version 3 added audio CD-writing capability, enhanced audio quality, and sound card recorder with silence detection capability.

Editor's review of Pulse Master This program changes the tempo of music without affecting the pitch. Pulse Master's interface looks primitive, but it allows convenient keyboard access to all commands. You can quickly loop a fragment of audio, which is convenient for learning languages and transcribing music.

A Pentium III is all you need to perform the changes in real time. We like the features that let you transpose songs to different keys, calculate beats per minute, and create audio CDs. The limitation on the length of a fragment to transform seems harsh at first, but it doesn't hinder your ability to decide whether you want to buy the program.

When you slow the music too much, unpleasant vibrations affect the audio quality. Other than that, Pulse Master offers a sterling solution for anyone who needs to manipulate tempo.
