Publisher's description
Mindful includes an event reminder and a mini calendar in one easy-to-use system-tray application. Define your own events and/or select from the list of 72 predefined common events including American, Canadian and Jewish holidays. Mindful supports formulated frequencies such as 'the 2nd Monday of the month, every 3 months'. Use Mindful for appointments, anniversaries, or any occasions, recurring or not, that you never want to miss. Mindful can calculate the age of a person and display it in the event description. Position the mouse over the system-tray icon to see your next upcoming event in a hint. Right-click the icon and select 'Calendar' to display a perpetual mini calendar. Mindful loads automatically when you start your computer.
If you leave it running overnight, it automatically updates your list of events in the first minute of the new day and displays it if any events are due for notice. Version 1.2.5 has a new system-tray icon that displays the current day of the month.
Editor's review of Mindful This handy and free program is designed to keep users from forgetting appointments, special events, tasks, and deadlines. Mindful's system-tray icon displays the day of the month and provides access to a database of events, each of which includes a title, a date, a reminder schedule, and any notes you might want to add. The only other feature in the demo is a standard Windows calendar object. You can configure recurring events, but you can't set reminders hours or minutes before the event. Nor can you alter a reminder's behavior--say, by playing a sound file or launching an application. The user interface is clean and intuitive, but it's certainly not very attractive. Still, it's nice the program comes with a list of 72 holidays and events, including floating ones such as Yom Kippur and Easter. In addition to basic daily, yearly, and weekly reminders, you can configure for ones that fall, say, on the second Thursday of every month. Although you can certainly find prettier reminder applications with more features, this freebie is worth considering.
