Publisher's description

The Website Extractor program is conveniently designed to download Internet Web sites exactly the way you want them, including or excluding any parts you need or don't need (such as directory, domain and file names, types of files, their size, or any other properties). The Extractor can download up to 100 files at a time, which saves you a huge amount of time compared to ordinary browsers.

All data retrieved are stored in the directory you select and contain only the files and directories matching your filter instructions. Website Extractor offline Web browser automatically allows you to download any files that were not copied due to transfer errors or bad connections. Version 9.6 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Editor's review of Website Extractor

Users can quickly download an entire Web site for offline viewing with this application, though some graphics may not download properly and the app's browser usefulness is limited.

Website Extractor has an attractive, multipaned interface that can easily be changed to a different configuration. In our tests, sites downloaded rapidly, including those rich with graphics. We were able to choose file types and sizes to exclude from the download, select the level of links to follow, and specify whether to download all files or just new files from a site. As another plus, the search feature provided in the Site Map pane worked very well.

Downloading graphics presented a problem. Many image links were broken, even though we specified including the graphics files. Further, offline viewing of sites with Website Extractor's built-in browser offered broken or overlapping lines of text, suggesting that the app can't resolve some coding issues that may result from sites being designed for optimal viewing with a particular browser.

Website Extractor may be handy for archival purposes and for those who are interested in checking how a site changes, or for users who use a slow Internet connection and prefer to read Web sites offline.
