Publisher's description

enLighter Retriever is more than 10 search toolbars in one. Add the power of Google, Yahoo, MSN, and many other search engines to your Explorer Browser. You remember the what, where, and when of past searches, and keep it private. enLighter Retriever, the only multisearch engine toolbar, lets you use your favorite search engine to find information and then lets you capture content to your library. Retriever works like a regular highlighter. Highlight sections on pages in different colors, such as green, red, and blue, to make your point stand out. Then go back and search only for your blue highlights or green notes. Add your voice to e-mails when sending information to your friends. Adding notes and highlights to Web pages helps you get to the point, fast. And, once you "enLighten" a Web page, you can fetch it anytime, online or offline. enLighter Retriever uses the age-old practice of color-coding information to keep all of your Web pages organized, indexed, and searchable in your personal library.

This version may feature unspecified improvements and bug fixes.

Editor's review of enLighter Retriever As a research aid, enLighter Retriever works very well, letting you highlight and write comments on Web pages. Its IE-only toolbar includes buttons to highlight and add comments to pages, as well as search boxes for comments you have created and Web searches. enLighter comes preloaded with three highlighter and comment categories, Work, Personal, and Fun. You can add more categories or change the color and font style of existing ones. However, we found making the font size too big rendered highlighted text unreadable. The Web search offers 10 major search engines to choose from, although we had to choose to refresh the list from the developer's Web site to make all of them available. Unfortunately you can't enter your own search engines, which limits the usefulness of the software for specialized research. Beyond a few customization problems and its IE-only nature, enLighter Retriever proves a useful assistant for Web research.
