Publisher's description
Advanced Popup Killer 2003 is a Windows program for closing unwanted pop-up and advertisement windows that appear while you surf the Web. You can choose a keyboard shortcut, and, after you use it on an active Internet browser window, that window will automatically be closed every time it tries to appear again. Advanced Popup Killer works very well with Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and other Web browsers. It also works well with MP3 file-sharing programs that display advertisements using Internet Explorer, such as Kazaa.
Version 4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements or bug fixes.
Editor's review of Advanced Popup Killer A colorful interface can't make up for clunky operation, and Advanced Popup Killer adds nothing to an already saturated software category. It offers most of the standard features for a program of this type. You can minimize it to the system tray, have it run at Windows start-up, and create a blacklist of banned sites. However, an effective pop-up sentry needs to be self-sufficient. Here, as each pop-up window launches, you must press a hot-key combination to add its URL to a blocked list. That may have been fine when every pop-up on the Web was an X10 ad, but these days you could spend your whole day browsing without encountering the same pop-up. Unless your browsing habits deliver predictable pop-ups over and over, Advanced Popup Killer is more likely to annoy you with its impotence than to wow you with its power.
