Use HomeManage home inventory software to organize and track your possessions. You will have a complete record of your assets, which will prove invaluable in the case of theft or natural disaster. Keep a running maintenance and repair history for your assets. Print a home inventory report (complete with pictures) for your insurance agent; backup your data for safekeeping. Assets can be assigned to beneficiaries for estate planning purposes. Organize items by category, room, or month of purchase. Attach images, files, and URLs to your records. If you have a vacation home or investment property, AssetManage allows you to track multiple residences. Warranty information can be recorded for each asset, you can then check to see which warranties are due to expire in the time frame you specify. Version 2007 fixes some bugs for Vista compatibility.Editor's review of HomeManage Home Inventory Well-designed and very organized, AssetManage Home Edition would only be improved with some Internet capabilities. The three-pane interface includes an Explorer-style browser and two panes for information and images. Details about items might include inventory, cost, condition, status, and warranty type, among many other categories. Searching based on these categories is easy, and you can assign each item to a broader category. It would be nice to be able to download images from the Internet for certain items, but this is a minor quibble. Anyone with an array of assets to track and manage will find AssetManage Home Edition a useful tool.

Frostbow Home Inventory is a full featured database program for cataloging, organizing, and tracking your household possessions. Designed and built for Windows 9x/ME/NT4.x/2000/ME/XP. Easy to use with extensive on-line help. Twenty-three separate fields for inputting descriptive data on each item in your home inventory, including photos and additional description and comments. Version 4.5.4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.Editor's review of Frostbow Home Inventory This program gives you a thorough method for cataloging and organizing your worldly possessions. Like many similar applications, Frostbow Home Inventory stores all the information in a database, so your first step is to create a new one. The program lets you enter a large amount of information for each item found in your home. For example, you'll find fields for name, manufacturer, purchase date, style, location, condition, cost, value, and heir. You can add several pictures to all entries, then sort your database by any piece of information you've entered. We liked Frostbow Home Inventory's ability to create charts and reports based on a variety of parameters. This allows you, for instance, to calculate the value of all goods found in your living room, or to figure out how much your collection of antique clocks is worth. The utility will be especially helpful for insurance purposes, though it makes a fine all-around organizational aid.

For the power user, Organizer affords the simplicity of wizards that make it easy to set up and use the Inventory / Assets database organizers that you create. Version 2.3 improves report/label printing and adds new features.Editor's review of Inventory Organizer Deluxe Organization aficionados will love Inventory Organizer Deluxe, since the program lets you track every single item you own. After installing the application, a detailed tutorial automatically appears in the main window, explaining the functions of the many buttons that surround the window. The field for entering new records lets you determine a category, description, image, and even a Web link to more information for each item. You can view separate entries or your whole catalog in either basic text tables or HTML pages complete with images and hyperlinks to the item's manufacturer and reseller. You also can move entered items into different categories at a later date. Finally, you can print information about your items or send information about them through e-mail. In spite of the somewhat chaotic appearance caused by the multitude of buttons, the program remains a solid way to manage your possessions.

Keep track of all your possessions in the house or office. Roden Home Inventory (RHI) creates a detailed and customizable catalog of your stuff. With TreeView record navigation, your inventory is always at your fingertips. Search and filtering tools show only what you want to see. Password-protect and back up your data with ease; encrypted data files add security. Reports can be exported to Adobe PDF, HTML, Word, or Excel.Editor's review of RHI (Roden Home Inventory) This basic database tool is a useful application to help you keep track of possessions in case of theft or another disaster. Applicable for the office or the home, RHI includes a step-by-step tutorial that will walk you through the process of inputting information about each item, recording the item name, category, condition, and other data. Although there is plenty of data-entry work to do, the interface is well-designed and easy to understand. Help files, if you choose to skip the tutorial, are complete and a good resource. Though the database can list items by location, the report function will only order items alphabetically by name. We also liked the option to keep records saved via password. You can't open inventory files independently (clicking them won't launch the program) so be sure to open RHI first. Image upload is easy and not too time-consuming. Overall, if you're organized for the long data-entry project ahead, RHI is a decent tool for keeping track of possessions.

Sole Possession is a home-inventory cataloger, allowing you to track where all your possessions are as well as providing you with estimated worth reports for insurance purposes in case of fire or theft.Editor's review of Sole Possession Track your home's physical contents and store its estimated value with this efficient, easy-to-use application. Sole Possession has a clean, functional interface with a helpful tip box that points you to the first step. Enter the item name, category, location information, and estimated value, among other options, and your inventory is quickly compiled. The program remembers the condition information you input so you won't have to retype it to describe a similar item. Pictures of your possessions can be easily imported. The search function delivers results quickly. Several options let you export data, including printing simple to customized reports and exporting as HTML, CSV, and XML files. One of the sole negatives is the mislabeled, redundant Report heading that sends your list to the printer. The trial version is limited to 20 records, which won't take care of all your possessions but will give anyone who needs to track their belongings for insurance purposes a good look at a great program.

Smart Items is a software suite for cataloging virtually any item, including videos, books, stamps, photos, CDs, DVDs, and recipes. The program's ideology is universality, simplicity, and portability. It uses a Windows Explorer-like interface, with unlimited, tree-organized physical-item folders; unlimited tree-organized categories; unlimited fully customized item fields; and functionality for printing, exporting to HTML, searching, sorting, filtering, debtor tracking, and browsing. It is based on our own fast and portable database, which makes it possible for you to view and search the database on PDA (Palm, WinCE) platforms.Editor's review of Smart Items We were simultaneously impressed by the flexibility of Smart Items and disappointed by the complexity of its interface. The program's strength is its integrated database, which stores information on a myriad of media: CDs, images, books, and more. You can even create your own categories combining fields such as genre, comments, and images. Fields can include check boxes, HTML-formatted text, lists, and even multilevel trees (useful for albums). Lending activity also can be tracked. The program requires registration even for trial use. Smart Items is best-suited for more experienced users.

DocSS Personal Edition allows you to secure any cabinet, drawer, folder, or document. You also have the ability to unlock any or all padlocks simultaneously. DocSS was designed to accept single and multiple page scans. The application will consolidate multipage documents into a single document, saving time and disk space, and provides the ability to view the document via a thumbnail sketch. Importing and exporting images, e-mails, and documents is also easy through DocSS. There are some basic templates to assist you in the design of your personal filing system. You have the option to use these templates and also have the option to modify them. Your ability to sort any column within the grid will help assist you in locating and organizing your system. DocSS features a powerful search function that will help you locate files. The download will remember your settings when closing and reset to that location upon start-up.Editor's review of DocSS Personal Edition This program basically offers an alternative way to manage documents, but it doesn't really blow Windows Explorer away. DocSS Personal Edition is based on a three-level storage structure, where you create cabinets, drawers, and folders. The program's most useful feature is its ability to protect any cabinet, drawer, or folder with a password, though you won't find an encryption utility or a file shredder for even more safety. Although the program mimics Explorer's structure, it is a bit prettier than Windows default design scheme, with more color and polished icons. We appreciated the inclusion of a tool that imports scans directly into the program, and we found the search utility powerful, accurate, and quick. Still, the demo only lets you create a certain number of cabinets and folders, which may limit its usefulness. Those who can't stand dealing with Windows Explorer will benefit from DocSS Personal Edition, but others may not find it worth the time.

Win Library manages books, discs, videos, CD-ROMs, and all kinds of documents. You can search by title and subtitle, words in the title, author, publisher, collection, subject, the Dewey decimal system, classification, bar code, and localization. You also can check in and out and reserve, and import and export in the Unimarc format.Editor's review of Win Library Pro This program is a great tool if you work in a library, or your apartment just looks like one. First off, take a deep breath and look past the amateur interface. It's clunky and the buttons are big, but it's the functions that count. Win Library Pro helps you catalog any sort of media, from CDs and DVDs to videotapes and books. Each new entry is automatically populated with all the necessary fields, including title, subtitle, author or artist, publisher, subject, and even bar code or Dewey decimal number. Win Library demands a lot of data entry, however; there's no way to download information from the Web, for example, to the program's database. You can add images, sounds, or even small video clips to entries. Despite a simplistic interface, Win Library is a very useful tool for cataloging large (or small) collections of media.

WinWein is a program for managing your private wine cellar. It helps you gather and rate wine bottles and record, sort, and manage your wines with detailed register cards (master and stock-data as well as evaluation, notes, cellar-book, and dishes).Editor's review of WinWein This robust database-style application lets you keep detailed tabs on your wine collection. WinWein's intuitive interface makes sorting data and creating records easy, though some prompts on its interface lapse from English into German. Enter the wine's name, and WinWein allows you to select from drop-down lists from categories such as varieties, producer, and country of origin. Features include the ability to denote the location of the bottles in your cellar, access a lexicon, and get suggestions on food pairings. Use Print Assistant to create eye-catching reports. Also, at the click of a button, you can get information on total inventory, monthly consumption, maturity, and categories in stock. The 30-day trial allows you to store 30 records, which should be sufficient to decide whether the program is worth buying. Private wine collectors and sellers will toast to the usefulness of WinWein.

Vidtracker is a database for your DVDs, laserdiscs, VHS tapes, and VCR recordings. The application offers unlimited descriptions and cast members. You can browse tables, and the app features a summary function, a loans manager, and the ability to backup and restore with ZIP compression.Editor's review of Vidtracker Now you'll never misplace your favorite episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". This program helps you keep track of all the various shows or home movies on your VHS tapes, DVD discs, or video CDs. It installs smoothly, and we especially like the program interface, with easy-to-use tabbed windows. Entries can be created and edited with only one click; if you have an extensive movie collection, Vidtracker links its database with the IMDB movie database as well, so you don't have to waste time typing in a lot of information. Lists are easily accessed and even printed. Search is robust, and can perform a number of actions according to your choice of parameters. We would have liked to see a field to add images, but this shortfall doesn't take away from the overall powerful nature of this movie database. Overall, Vidtracker is a great tool for movie enthusiasts who managed to wrap themselves in tape before the time of TiVo.

Asset Tracker Basic is designed as a database utility, providing an easy way for anyone to keep track of and categorize any item(s) they wish. You can also use this program just to keep track of the original cost, current value, date purchased, location purchased, warranty expiration, serial numbers, item descriptions, and pictures of any and all of your belongings. Version 4.2 has +Added Login Screen/Login Preferences form +Added totals row to add every column. Fixed bugs in color preferences, changed some font styles, and fixed bugs so main form will not pop up over other forms.Editor's review of Asset Tracker Basic True to its name, this basic database application tracks your possessions but offers little else. Asset Tracker Basic is easy to understand and simple to use. Input a category, then enter an item name, the original cost, and the current value, among other options. The program quickly tallies the cost and value for each category. On the negative side, a search function is missing. Additionally, you can only save to and load from your A: drive rather than to and from your hard drive. The dull interface is slightly spiced up by the ability to change the color scheme, but the main window can't be minimized to your taskbar. Pictures of your possessions can be imported, but the heading for that feature is mislabeled. The evaluation version allows you to enter three categories and three items within those categories, which seems a bit limiting for our tastes. Only users who desire a bare-bones way of electronically keeping up with their belongings should give Asset Tracker Basic a look.

Movie Organizer Deluxe is Windows software that allows movie collectors, hobbyists, small libraries, and clubs to organize, catalog, and manage their movie collections on their PCs. Organizer is intuitive and easy to use for beginners, and is at the same time feature-rich and powerful enough to satisfy the most advanced users. Ready-to-use, movie-inventory-management solutions let you easily and quickly organize your video and DVD collections. You can access and view your movie data in virtually any format (table, detail-view page, browser). A report wizard, a label wizard, and an HTML-generator wizard let you create quality, professional-looking documents, movie reports, and summaries. Using a helper program called Designer, you can easily modify movie-inventory-database templates included in the package. Version 2.3 improves report/label printing and adds new features.Editor's review of Movie Organizer Deluxe This program helps you organize your DVD and videotape collections and keep all the information updated. The numerous buttons on the interface make it look more complicated that it is. For each movie, you can enter details such as director, music composer, and release dates. If you don't know your movie details, Movie Organizer Deluxe includes a special Web browser that can help you find them. Unfortunately the browser is small and cannot be expanded. You also can enter keywords for each movie, making them easy to find through the program's search functions. Its printing feature offers options that let you selectively print out hard copies of your movie-collection information. The most obvious feature missing from this program is a UPC look-up field, forcing you to manually enter all your movie details. Nevertheless, those willing to take the time to learn this program's interface will find it a decent organizational tool.

Take pride in your vehicle and discover just how efficient it is. Use Vechicle 3000 if you use your vehicle for work and need an easy way to track expenses. It's easy to enter and monitor any type of vehicle expense. The reports in Vehicle 3000 make it easy for you to analyze your vehicle's performance. If you need help using Vehicle 3000, simply use our easy-to-follow online help system. Along with our Free Support Program, there will never be a question unanswered.Editor's review of Vehicle 3000 Despite some interface problems, this program stores a wealth of information on any number of automobiles. Upon launching Vehicle 3000, some users may be put off to find themselves staring at a completely blank screen. You must click the menu item labeled Vehicle to start entering information in the database. However, that's not the only design problem we found. If for example, you want to store data regarding your insurance agent and policy, you must go to a completely different screen. We really think the developer could have found a more convenient way to integrate everything into one screen. When adding a car or truck, you can enter information for make, model, year, registration fee, and primary driver. The application also lets you keep records of fuel purchases and details about your automobiles' service history. While Vehicle 3000 certainly wasn't designed with the everyday user in mind, folks who manage a large fleet of cars might find it worthwhile to take the time to learn to use this program.

You have a file or software package but you can't find it in your CD/DVD collection. This tool will solve your problem. It makes an inventory of your collection in a database and automatically generates medium-size ID labels for identification. You can add a note to each file or disk entry in the explorer, and with the search feature you can identify the CD/DVD you're looking for.Editor's review of CD/DVD Inventory Tool If you're buried in jewel cases, this basic application may at least get you started on making some sense of your CD or DVD collection. CD/DVD Inventory Tool reads each disc and uploads pertinent information into a database. It then assigns a label to each CD or DVD to make searching easier once you've cataloged your collection. The interface is uninspiring but works effectively. Aside from reading information from a disc, the program has no ability to pull additional information (for movies, for example) from the Internet--if you need a detailed database, other applications on the market can do this more effectively. However, if you're looking for a bare-bones cataloging application, this might do the trick.
